About

Carol Meyer earned her BA from Tulane University in 1970 and her PhD from the University of Chicago in 1981 in Mesopotamian archaeology. She carried out dissertation research in Baghdad in 1977 and excavated in Syria in 1978 and 2008, at Quseir al-Qadim, Egypt in 1980 and 1982, in Jordan at Jerash in 1982-83 and Aqaba in 1987 and 2014, and at Hosh el-Geruf in the Sudan in 2007. She was a Chicago House artist from 1985 to 1992 and field director of the Bir Umm Fawakhir Project, central Eastern Desert of Egypt from 1992 to 2000. She is currently working on the publication of gold production at Hosh el-Geruf and the massive Medieval Islamic glass corpus from Aqaba.
