About the Volunteer Program

Founded in 1966, the program celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2026, making it one of the longest-running volunteer programs in Chicago.

There are many ways to get involved besides becoming a museum docent: you can volunteer in the Research Archives, join us as a Public Programs volunteer at special museum events, or help out at the Museum Shop.

Whatever role you choose, you can enjoy these benefits:

  • Enhance your knowledge of ancient history, art, and archaeology by attending lectures and tours led by ISAC’s world-renowned scholars
  • Enjoy volunteer appreciation events, special ISAC programs, and other special events
