The socio-political system of the Middle and Late Bronze Age southern Levant, whether we define it as that of city-states or that of small palatial polities, spanned ca. eight centuries, enjoying an unusual longevity. Resilience was maintained by keeping the system as simple as possible on the one hand, and relying on Mediterranean economy on the other hand. In this public lecure about Kabri Assaf Yasur-Landau will discuss resilience through simplicity; this lecture will focus on the study of connectivity. It is one of the most tensile elements of Mediterranean economy, as trade and other forms of maritime contact were deliverately used as an adaptive risk management strategy.
