Professor Holly Pittman participated in excavations at the site of Konar Sandal South in the Kerman province of southeastern Iran where she studied the rich and various finds of seals and seal impressions. These provide compelling and specific evidence for the complex networks of interaction that crisscrossed the Iranian plateau during the third millennium Bronze Age of Exchange. This illustrated lecture will follow the traces left by traders and travelers who made their way from Mesopotamia to the Oxus Civilization through this important Iranian Center. 7:00-8:00 p.m. Presentation and Discussion 8:00-9:00 p.m. Reception The Braidwood Visiting Scholar Program (BVSP) aims to encourage and perpetuate the educational values of Robert and Linda Braidwood – particularly their commitment to the mentorship and training of graduate students specializing in the archaeology of the ancient Near East.
