Conference on Looting to be Held at the University of Chicago
A conference on "Archaeological Looting: Realities and Possibilities for New Policy Approaches" will be held on February 27-28, 2015 in Room 122 of Regenstein Library (1100 E. 57th Street). Professor Tony Wilkinson, Leader in Landscape Archaeology, Passes Away at 66
Professor Tony Wilkinson, of the Archaeology Department at the University of Durham (UK) passed away on December 25, 2015. He was 66 years old. Dr. Wilkinson taught at the Oriental Institute for many years, founded the CAMEL Lab, and was one of the most brilliant archaeologists in the history of the Oriental Institute. A service of remembrance will be held at St. Brandon's Church, Brancepeth Village, followed by a reception in Brancepeth Castle.

Egyptian Coffin Conservation Project
The Oriental Institute recently received a grant from the Antiquities Endowment Fund of the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE) to conserve an important ancient Egyptian coffin in our collection (OIM E12072). An article is now available that provides details about the project.
