SAOC 34. A Study of the Ba Concept in Ancient Egyptian Texts Louis V. Zabkar
The study of the Ba concept as it is reflected in the main categories of Egyptian texts is of considerable relevance to the understanding of ancient Egyptian religion and to an appreciation of the concept of man held by the ancient Egyptians. Up until now (1968) there has been no detailed study of the Ba, though references and brief discussions of it have appeared. Louis Zabkar, encouraged by the work of earlier scholars and stimulated by the disagreement among them concerning the meaning of the Ba, submits the subject to a new examination which would utilize texts not often referred to in this connection.
