This grammatical study is mainly based on two texts from the Roman period (The Demotic Magical Papyrus London and Leiden, and the Mythus vom Sonnenauge) and on two from the Ptolemaic period (Setne Khaemwast I and the Instruction of 'Onchsheshonqy). The scheme of the book is explained and stresses that the major difference between Demotic and Late Egyptian is the existence of a complete system of formal categories in the former.
