OIP 12. The Proverbs of Solomon in Sahidic Coptic According to the Chicago Manuscript Edited by William H. Worrell
In its No. 10485 the Haskell Oriental Museum of the University of Chicago possesses a nearly complete and very old manuscript of the biblical book of Proverbs in the Sahidic version. Nothing is known of the manner in which this manuscript came to light, nor of the place or region in which it was found. Professor James H. Breasted — bought the volume in Cairo in 1920 of Mr. T. C. Townsend, sub-manager of the Anglo-Egyptian Bank, Limited. A Middle Egyptian and early origin may, however, be suspected from its small format. [from the introduction]
