Try your hand at writing hieroglyphs with help from an OI Egyptologist!

Become an Egyptologist for the day!

Learn the basics of the Egyptian hieroglyphic writing system, and then use your skills to translate real artifacts! By the end of this virtual workshop, you will understand some of the principles of reading Egyptian hieroglyphs as well as be able to recognize key hieroglyphs and phrases that show up on the Egyptian artifacts in many museums.

Recommended for Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes and friends and siblings ages 8–12.

Intro to Hieroglyphs is available Tuesdays through Sundays at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. and is one hour long. The workshop is hosted on the OI Museum's Zoom account.

Cost: $100 for 10 to 20 participants, $5 per additional participant. Parents, chaperones, troop leaders, and children under 4 are free. 

At least one adult is required for every 10 participants under the age of 18.
